Robbers Cave State Park is located a few miles north of Wilburton, Oklahoma in the Sans Bois
Mountains. Legend has it that Robbers Cave was the hideout for notorious outlaws like Jesse James and
Belle Starr. In addition to the cave that the park is named for, there are many other small caves and
interesting rock formations in this area.

Robbers Cave is a beautiful state park located in Southeastern Oklahoma, and is a relatively short drive
from Tulsa, Oklahoma City, or Dallas. It has 122 tent and RV campsites. Many of the RV sites have sewer
in addition to water and electricity.

The park is located in a hilly, heavily wooded area, and has several small lakes. We prefer the Old Circle
Campground or Whispering Pines Campground. These campsites are large, wooded, well equipped
sites that are close to the information center and bathrooms. The bathrooms in this part of the park have
flush toilets and showers. They also have good access to hiking, as the trailhead to the Coon Creek trail
starts near the information center.

All together, Robbers Cave has five camping areas, which includes both improved and unimproved
campsites. The park offers a great deal of amenities. Some of these include a swimming pool, gift shop,
minature golf, canoe and paddle boat rentals,
hiking, equestrian trails, group camps, cabin rentals, and
lodging at the Belle Starr Lodge.

Robbers Cave is one of our favorite places to go camping, as it has miles of great hiking trails, scenic
bluffs, caves, tall trees, and plenty of fun for the entire family. We recently spent some time here over the
kids spring break. Here are some pictures that were taken in March, 2009.
