International Travel - Portugal
Portugal is only a four hour flight from the Boston airport, so it's easy to bring the
family along to Europe.
There's the Lisbon zoo, with dolphin shows and lion feeding or for a better view of
the animals you can ride the cable car. Also in Lisbon there's the Pavilion of
Knowledge so kids can check out "scientific advancements," and then the favorite
will undoubtedly be the Lisbon Oceanarium. It's one of the largest in the world.
Kids love the huge windows on the massive tanks so they can see the sharks!
In Sintra our suggestion is to visit the museum where families can learn about
dinosaurs and see the natural monument of dinosaur footprints. There's also
about an hour away the "Portugal dos Pequenitos" miniature attraction park – with
little houses for the kids to explore.
You can also travel by plane to Porto Santo Island off of Madeira... miles of sand
where the children can run around, swim, or rent a bike or an off-roader.

Family Adventure - Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon - Las Vegas, Nevada
We are an active family and love to travel, so finding somewhere that is suitable for
kids (ages 8 and 11), as well as fun for us adults is always a bit of a challenge. We
recently started making a trip to Las Vegas once a year because beyond the
casinos, there is lots to do! We LOVE Red Rock Canyon!They have maps with tons
of different trails of all kinds of levels of ability. We found a company called Vegas
Getaways that rents out private vacation homes with pools, so the kids love to
swim, and have a whole house to hang out in. They even rented us a house that
was 5 minutes from Red Rock Canyon, which was great. The vacation home is
perfect for us with the kids because we are not all cramped into a hotel room, and
we can stay right up the street from out favorite spot!

Husband and Wife Getaway - Lake Hugo
My wife and I just returned from a relaxing getaway. We were looking for a place
where we could rent a lake cabin that was pretty close to Dallas, where we could
just relax and enjoy some time together.
We found Lake Hugo State Park to be just what we were looking for. It's a little over
100 miles northeast of Dallas and sits on a nice wooded area along the shore of
Lake Hugo. It is not uncommon to see eagles at the park. In fact, the last morning
that we were there I walked down past cabin 26 near the picnic pavilion, and saw a
beautiful Golden Eagle in the top of one of the trees. The marina rents pontoon
boats if you want to enjoy the lake or you can rent a bike and pedal around exploring
the park. There are hiking trails in the park, but if it has rained recently they may be
muddy. They were while we were there so we checked out the "Elephant Walk"
walking trail in Hugo, Oklahoma and had a nice walk and tried out some of the
workout stations along the way.
If you enjoy a good steak or barbecue, then its well worth the short drive up to
Antlers to eat at Able's Western Bar B Que. It has a great atmosphere, the food is
wonderful and the prices are very reasonable.
We rented a nice resort cabin with a huge deck overlooking the lake. It had a living
room with a fireplace and sleeper sofa, two bedrooms, a nice sized bathroom,
along with a kitchen and dining area. It was equipped with TV and satellite and had
great views of the lake. It was just right for the two of us and a great place to hang
out and relax when we weren't out doing things. Below are some pictures.

Family Fun - Kissimmee, Florida
Summer Bay Resort - Kissimmee, Florida
This resort sits behind the Disney property and you are only 2 miles from Disney.
On property is a lake with water toys, 6 different pools, two with pool side bar/grill,
sports equipment and free family activities all day. We have spent years without
leaving the resort; our kids have enjoyed it for over 8 years.
